we. like. to. party.

yeah.
we like to party.

We celebrated Emma's 5th birthday - BIG!
I think it's definitely one of our best yet.
Months ago (because I am a serious type A personality) we began talking about what kind of party we could do for her 5th.
As I began looking through one of my favorite party websites,
I came across these amazing ideas for a Carnival party!

And I was in love.
My brain started working overtime
thinking about the cake, the decorations, the food, the games
....and on and on.
(although he would never admit it, I have drove
Mark completely crazy with all the details for
a long, long time.)
I was already excited and when I brought up to Emma
she was equally excited! Yay.

Listen, I could probably get her excited about
us having any kind of birthday party because
she knows I love to give my kids
great birthday parties.
It's just something I feel strongly about.
I want to celebrate them and the fact that they
were born into this world as a gift from GOD,
and He has a wonderful plan for each of their lives.

Who doesn't want to have their own day?
A day to feel special all day.

Well all that and ...

we.like.to.party.

So here's the main decorated room.
Our dining room.
Good thing I painted that sucker yeller
because it looked grrreat with the theme!
I went with primary colors, lots of banners,
and balloons!

Yes, that's cotton candy hanging from the door.
cute and fun.

Because the party was from 2-4pm, not during a meal time,
I threw out a bunch of Carnival type snacks.
Including Peanuts, Animal Crackers, Pretzels, Cracker Jacks,

And, of course, POPCORN.

Made in a real Popcorn Machine!!
So fun!

These were the little prizes the kids won for playing all the games.

And then comes the cake!
This cake was dreamed up sooo many ways in my head.
I love how the end result turned out!
I was going for a circus tent and think I achieved that very well
by using a pizza box rolled into a cone shape, hot glued together,
and then covered in fondant.
My only regret is not having put stripes on that top layer
but DANG I was tired by the time I got to this part.
I have been making my kids birthday cakes since Emma was 3.
I LOVE doing it. It's just another way for me to get
creative and crafty! Plus the kids get a say-so in
how they want their cake to look and they do help
with the baking process. Anyway, I'm getting
better as the years go by. If I do say so myself.
This cake was sooo delicious!!! seriously. I'm always
a little nervous about it tasting fresh and good, because
the cakes are made 1 to 2 days ahead but I got
it sooo right this time! mmmm...delicious.

And who better to show up first at her party,

none other than her BFF Grant!!

So cute.

We had face painting done by talented friend Stacie!
She's really good! And she was reeeaally popular at this party. I gathered all the kids
together told them about the games and the face painting and said...GO!

They ALL ran straight to the face paint booth and just
stood there. waiting. in line. at a party. It was the funniest thing to see

all 18 kids (yes, I said 18) standing in line to get their face painted.
So much for being rowdy.

Here a few more pictures of the kids.
You know what I forgot...to get them ALL together
for a group shot!
shoot!!

Oh well, I have more pictures on my Walmart site and I don't know how

(nor do I want to know how)
to get them on here...so here you go.

We had 3 carnival games:

Bean bag toss, Ring Toss, and Throw a ball in a cup game
Plus a Pin the nose n the clown game.

This was the favorite of the games.
They loved knocking these over!

And then, of course, came the presents!
Lots of presents! (18 guest plus family!)
I don't have pictures of all the loot, but apparently
I got the word out about our newest love:
Polly Pocket!
We got tons of new Polly's with clothes and ....accessories!
I love having a girl to play with. (Dinos and Dragons get boring fast.)
Emma also got lots of crafty gifts, which she loves so much!
She has crafted something everyday since her party.
Thanks to everyone for coming out. Emma had a wonderful party
and we have some ideas already swirling around for next year!

Heather, that looks like one amazing party! I'm sure Emma felt like a very loved little girl. We don't usually do big parties, but I have always loved making the birthday cake myself. Your cake turned out great. Your children are truly blessed to have you for a momma!

The only hurdle to accessing this is of course human limitations and the fact that the brain does not function
solely as a learning tool for the human being.
I believe my exact words were "I don't want to be your dirty little secret. They feature almost nightly drink specials and some form of entertainment every night of the week--DJ's, live music, trivia, you name it.

also gave rise to the need for a fresh start, which came in the form of the next
blues-only venue, Antone's, founded by the late Clifford Antone, during the summer of 1975.

If all players are wrong the murderer gets away and everyone loses.
The game was released on August 3, and is in stores now,
but probably is where it will remain, sad to say. Cranberry studios developed this sequel while publisher Anaconda brings it to you in stores.

So awesome. I was looking for a cool indoor party idea (my son's birthday is in November) without spending a fortune, and this looks perfect. Thanks for the idea!
