is blank no more. yay!
Remember this post about big blank walls.
I've been draggin' my feet about posting the bonus
room big blank wall redo, just because I was too lazy busy.
But here it is.
First a look at what it looked like before:
Yep. That's one big blank wall.
And just to keep it real:
(notice: none of that is my stuff, so why should
I be the one to clean it up?)
Moving on.
First I taped it all off to see how it would look.
And if you look closely you will see a couple of little bluish gray
paint samples in the center of the big square.
I have one wall up there that gets all the little dirty hands and
lots of toys rubbed across it so I knew I was going to paint it
an accent color. So I got the brainy idea to paint just inside the
big square the same color as the accent wall. I didn't take
pictures of that disaster.
I love the color on the accent wall. It's called Autumn Fog from ValSpar.
I know this not a great picture, but you get the idea.
I like how it turned out. It looks great with my furniture.
But inside the big square, it looked baby blue.
It was ug.ly. Funny how the lighting can change the
color so much. So needless to say, I had to repaint that
section back to the original wall color. I still have some ideas about
adding some Upper Case Living blooms, branches, or monograms up
there. We'll see. Mark and I are actually thinking about painting the entire
interior over here b/c of the flat paint. I can't live with this flat paint y'all.
Something has to go. Flat paint. or the kids. So for now all the molding
is up but it is empty. Which is fine. Still looks great.
O.K. anyway here's the before again:
and the after:
I really like it. Again we used the molding that is not real wood,
so it was cheap. This is the same stuff we used in the dinning room.
You can get it at Lowe's only $4.95 for an 8 foot piece.
Got any big blank walls at your house?
Go pick up some molding and get to work.
Really. Do you? I'm curious....
